Five special individual and two team awards will be presented to professional cyclists during the 2010 Tour of America. The five individual winners will be awarded by wearing a different color jersey.  In professional cycling, these jerseys carry honor and prestige for the person who gets to wear it during the next day's stage.

Leader Jersey

The tradition of using the color yellow to signify the race leader is over 100 years old in professional cycling and it is the color of the Overall Leader jersey. This jersey is awarded to the cyclist with the least amount of overall accumulated time, also known as the leader of the general classification, or G.C.

Individual Place Leader Jersey

This is a new category added to the Tour of America. While the yellow jersey wearer is the overall leader of the Tour in terms of time, the wearer of the blue jersey is the leader of the Tour in terms of his everyday placing at the end of each stage. Therefore, his accumulated position on each stage will be added and the cyclist who has the lowest point total shall be the wearer of the blue jersey. While traditionally cyclists who finish in a group are awarded the same time of finish, they will have a different point total depending on where they finish.

King of the Mountain

Traditionally a polka dot jersey goes to the strongest climber of the peloton each day. Cyclists compete to earn the polka dot jersey by collecting points at designated locations along the course. Only the top three cyclists who cross the KOM climbs receive points, and the rider with the most accumulated points is awarded this jersey.

Young Rider

Each day eligible riders who are under 25 years of age compete for this special jersey, which recognizes the future stars of cycling. The white jersey recipient is determined daily by his overall placement at the finish line after each stage, with the least amount of overall accumulated time.

Sprint Leader

The green Sprint Leader jersey is awarded to the rider that accumulates the most bonus points during. These points are amassed at designated Sprint Lines along the route and by finishing in the top 15 places at the finish line of each stage.

Best Team

The times of the three best riders of each team will be accumulated and the team with the lowest cumulative time will be awarded the Best team of the Tour. There is no jersey awarded to this team.

Best Country

The times of the three best riders of each country, regardless of team, will be accumulated and the team with the lowest cumulative time will be awarded the Best team of the Tour. This prize once again unique to this competition will provide the Tour a way of giving something back to the cycling organizations of the participating countries. There is no jersey awarded to this team.
